4. Petition Submission to Public Officials

When you sign our petition, you are explicitly authorizing us to submit your name and city/ZIP to the Escondido City Clerk's Office and to Escondido City Council members as part of the formal public comment process. This is the primary purpose of the petition, and by signing you consent to this use.

Public comment submissions to the City of Escondido may become part of the public record under California law. We submit petitions in aggregate form (name + city) rather than email addresses, consistent with standard community advocacy practice.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

7. Data Retention

We retain petition data for the duration of the active campaign and for a reasonable period after its conclusion to maintain accurate records. Email addresses used for campaign communications are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Story submissions that have been published are retained as part of the campaign record; unpublished submissions are deleted within 90 days.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. Our site is served over HTTPS. Access to personal data is limited to campaign volunteers and administrators who need it for campaign operations. We cannot, however, guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.

9. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
